They said it: Patriots Monday edition
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, director of player personnel Nick Caserio and linebackers coach Matt Patricia spoke to the media on Monday before this week's divisional-round playoff game against the Jets. The following quotes are from transcripts provided by the Patriots.
Belichick on Rex Ryan saying that the game will be "Rex Ryan vs. Bill Belichick": Well, I might have a little quickness on him. He's probably got a little more strength and power on me. So, I don't think you'll see either one of us out there making any blocks or tackles or runs or throws or catches. At least you won't see me doing it. It's probably a good thing for our team.
Belichick on Vince Wilfork's versatility: "Vince is really a versatile player. His first year in the league he played defensive end during the season and in the postseason. Really, from the time he's gotten here, he's shown that he can play anywhere from the outside shoulder on the tackle to all the way down to the zero technique on the nose and those spots in between. So, he gives us a lot of versatility there: his ability to handle blockers, read blocking schemes, play multiple responsibilities. It gives our defense a lot of flexibility. He's very smart, instinctive, reads well Fake Tresor Paris Necklaces, and also Tresor Paris Bracelets, he's a good technique player. All those things work toward that end."
Caserio on the state of the defensive line: "We made the move the other day with Mike Wright, but there are a number of guys who have played a lot of football for us this year. Vince (Wilfork) has been out there. Gerard (Warren) has been out there. Myron (Pryor) has come back. It was good to have him for the last game and he had a chance to practice last week. Landon (Cohen)'s come in and made a contribution since he's been here. We just work with the players that we have and just try to figure out the best way to utilize them on a week-to-week basis. The defensive staff does a great job with that and that'll be the case this week. So Patriots players of the week_17, it's been a combination of a number of different guys, some guys that don't have as much experience in our system relative to some other guys that do. And those guys, whatever they've been asked to do this season, they've stepped in."
Caserio on ORT Sebastian Vollmer: "Sea Bass has had a real consistent year. He's been out there since Day One. To my recollection, I don't think he's missed a practice. I think he missed one last week Fake Tresor Paris Bracelet Kraft denies reports of deal with OLG Mankins_727, but that might've been the first one all year. Sea Bass has been a consistent performer really since he's arrived. He's improved. He's got a pretty unique skill set. He had to play left tackle last year. This year, he's predominately played on the right side, but he's got good size. He's a good athlete for his size. He's a smart guy. He studies. He understands what we're trying to do offensively. He works well with that entire group."
Patricia on the return of ILB Brandon Spikes, who is back after a four-game suspension to end the season: "I think Brandon is a guy that is out there right now getting himself back in the groove of everything we're doing here and what we are trying to get done. I think anyone that misses any type of work for four weeks, comes back to it with a little bit of a degree of having to get adjusted, so I think that's all to be expected."
