Report: Pats' Burgess considering retirement
ESPN.com is reporting that Patriots OLB-DE Derrick Burgress Sale Alpinestars Motorcycle Jackets - Cheap Alpinestars Jackets Store, who did not report to training camp on time, is considering retirement.
The Patriots re-signed Burgess this spring, which was considered a mild surprise given how he struggled in the team's defensive scheme last season. But he had been one of a number of players expected for vie for major playing time at outside linebacker this season after agreeing to return.
Now, with Shawn Crable released and Burgess contemplating not playing, the Patriots are more thin at the position. Tully Banta-Cain, coming off a 10-sack season atriots fantasy report-, figures to start at one spot oss returning- If so, B, perhaps flanked by either Pierre Woods, Rob Ninkovich or rookie Jermaine Cunningham.
Burgess could decide to report, and Patriots officials reportedly are aware that he's currently in limbo.
Over his 10-year career, Burgess has 52 sacks, including a league-best 16 in 2005. He had only five last season with the Patriots, who traded draft picks to land him, although head coach Bill Belichick praised Burgess' play late in the season.
