INDIANAPOLIS — Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland, who usually keeps a low profile, held a rare press conference at the Combine Thursday and addressed a variety of subjects, including the team's plans for OLB Joey Porter.
There were reports circulating during the campaign that 2009 could be Porter's final season in Miami Cheap 10/11 Arsenal #27 EBOUE Away Soccer Jersey On Sale, and Porter went on a media blitz during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. He asked to be traded and complained about being given the cold shoulder by head coach Tony Sparano during the season.
The Dolphins released Porter on Feb. 12, but the move was ruled invalid and he was reinstated on the team's roster.
Ireland addressed Porter's disparaging comments about the organization on Thursday.
"That had nothing (to do with) why we released Joey," Ireland said. "Our intent was to release Joey on (Feb. 12). None of the talking off the field had anything to do with why we attempted to release him. Performance on the field is why we attempted to release him."
The third-year general manager was asked whether Porter could remain with the team into 2010.

Porter olphins give Will Allen, 32 olphins give extension , made nine sacks last season. He's slated to make $4.8 million in '10 if he remains with Miami.
